B.B. Berg

B.B started out her singing career in the Big Apple, performing almost continuously in New York City and its environs at legendary clubs such as: The Cotton Club, The Blue Note Club, Greene Street, Smalls Paradise, The Ballroom and The Duplex.

Her warmth is contagious as stated by New York critic, Michael Bryant Reiner from New York Casting. “

B.B. Berg is one of the most up-beat and uplifting cabaret performers I’ve ever had the pleasure to see.”

“She creates a powerful presence as she moves and grinds to the strains of her soulful, bluesy voice.”

At Greene Street in lower Manhattan’s Soho, Gloria Steinem and many of the staff of Ms. Magazine came to her performance and Gloria wrote this:

“B.B. Berg is a singer who could only happen now-tough and vulnerable, serious and funny, sensuous and strong. She leaves her audience happier and better people than they were when they came in.”

On another occasion while performing at The Ballroom, critic: Kitty Culnane of Show Business News said

“Diving in and out of controlled alto, her burlesque enthusiasm would change to sultry introspection on a single note…Someone not to miss! Low-down, Smokey blues with a determined gutsy delivery.”

B.B. also participated in the Harlem Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center’s Women’s Jazz Festival and the 1981 Women in Jazz series featured in the Citicorp Atrium.

In the fall of 1990 she married her pianist and together they decided to move to Barcelona, Spain to check out the European jazz scene.

She was introduced to Barcelona immediately upon arriving by being featured that autumn in The Barcelona Jazz Festival.

Living and performing in Spain for almost 20 years, B.B. performed on Radio 4, and in a multitude of clubs and festivals such as: The Pipa club, The Harlem Jazz club, and festivals such as La Guarda Jazz Festival in Portugal, The Cuitat Vella Jazz Festivals.

In the year 2000, B.B. recorded “I’m Yours” her debut C.D.

And notably B.B.was the resident Jazz singer in the Ritz Carlton Scotch Bar in the heart of Barcelona in 2001.

When B.B. sang at the gala of the Taller de Musics noted critic Karles Torra  from the Vanguardia newspaper of Barcelona said (translated)

" Explosive singer  B.B. Berg croons a throaty rendition of happy

birthday for the anniversary celebration of the renowned music school Taller de Musics of Barcelona.”

After working in and around Cataluña and on the Mediterranean coast for another series of years B.B. left on her own to live in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she performed at The Plaza Hotel, The International Cafe and private parties and casinos in and around Vegas.

Presently B.B. is living in Desert Hot Springs, California and performing in country clubs and resorts in the Palm Springs, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage area.

B.B.’s next move is to the nearby Southern California coast.
